The Warriors kicked off their 2018 season on Saturday at the Ft. Lupton Bluedevil’s Invitational taking 3rd place. The tournament was a dual style tournament in the morning session and an individual style tournament in the afternoon session. The Warriors wrestled in 3 duals in the morning session, winning all 3. The Warriors defeated Glenwood Springs 61-15, Ft. Lupton 55-21, and Greeley West 42-36. There were 19 wrestlers who competed in the individual session, which was broken into a championship bracket and consolation bracket. 12 Warriors qualified for the championship bracket, while 7 wrestled in the consolation side. Kole Young (113) led the Warriors taking 1st place going 4-1 on the day avenging an earlier loss in the finals. The Warriors had 3 other wrestlers making it to the finals, but came up short finishing 2nd. Cole Hoffman (138) went 4-1, Garrett Phillips (152) went 3-2, and Jonathan Watts (285) went 4-1. There were 8 other wrestlers who had an opportunity to get some hardware. 4 finished with 3rd place: Jonah Gardner (106) 3-2, Alex Carrillo (113) 3-2, Cruz Jiminez (120) 4-1, and Gabe Carrillo (126) 3-2. 4 finished with 4th place: Cody Ayres (132) 3-2, Jonah Sanders (145) 2-3, Victor Rangel (160) 2-3, and TR Kindvall (182) 2-3. The were 4 wrestlers who won the consolation bracket and finished 5th: Nate Pargee (152) 2-3, Mike Espindola (170) 3-2, Austin Ojeda (182) 3-2, and Josh Hernandez (220) 3-2. The 3 remaining wrestlers who competed finished 7th: Justin Dean (106) 0-4, Omar Lopez (182) 1-3, and Talon Veile (195) 1-2.
